About Impact Alternative Learning

Who We Are

Impact Alternative Learning is a specialist alternative provision supporting learners aged 5–19 who require a different approach to education.

We work with young people who may have:

  • Struggled in mainstream settings

  • Experienced gaps in education

  • Social, emotional or behavioural needs

  • An EHCP or additional support needs

Our role is to provide a structured, consistent and supportive environment where learners can re-engage, rebuild confidence, and make progress.

What We Offer

At Impact, education is not just about sitting in a classroom — it is about developing the whole young person.

Our provision includes:

  • Core academic learning
Functional Skills in English and Maths, delivered in a way that is accessible and engaging

  • Vocational learning
Practical pathways including fitness, mechanics, construction, beauty, and creative subjects

  • Personal development
PSHE, mentoring, and life skills that support behaviour, wellbeing, and decision-making

  • Enrichment opportunities
Trips, outdoor learning, and experiences that build confidence and social skills

We ensure learning is relevant, practical, and achievable, so students begin to experience success again.

How We Work

We understand that many of our learners have had negative experiences in education. Because of this, our approach is different.

We provide:

  • Small group and 1:1 support

  • Flexible timetables to support re-engagement

  • A strong focus on relationships and trust

  • Clear structure, routine, and expectations

We don’t expect students to fit into a system that hasn’t worked for them —
we adapt the provision to meet their needs.

Our Environment

Impact offers a calm, structured setting where students feel:

  • Safe

  • Understood

  • Supported

Our provision includes access to:

  • Classroom-based learning

  • Vocational spaces

  • Outdoor and community-based learning opportunities

  • An external vocational and physical education facility to enhance engagement

We are also expanding our offer with a new site launching in May, set in the countryside with access to outdoor learning and nature-based activities.

Our Learners

Our students are individuals — not labels.

Many arrive with:

  • Low confidence

  • Gaps in learning

  • Poor attendance history

Through consistent support, we help them to:

  • Rebuild trust in education

  • Develop positive routines

  • Improve behaviour and engagement

  • Achieve meaningful outcomes

Working with Families & Professionals

We work closely with:

  • Parents and carers

  • Local authorities

  • Social workers

  • SEND teams

  • Other professionals

This ensures a joined-up approach, supporting each learner both in and outside of education.

Preparing for the Future

Everything we do is focused on what comes next.

We support learners to:

  • Gain recognised qualifications

  • Develop life and employability skills

  • Build confidence and independence

  • Move into college, training or employment

Our goal is not just to educate —
it is to ensure every young person leaves with a clear direction and belief in themselves.

The Impact Difference

Impact Alternative Learning is built on:

  • Consistency over chaos

  • Structure over uncertainty

  • Progress over perfection

We don’t give up on young people.
We work with them until they believe they can succeed
